Felicity Topp has come to the social sciences from a diverse background, strongly featuring dimensions of creativity and with qualifications in design and mechanical engineering. By moving through separated disciplines, Felicity brings awareness of the fundamental issues facing the integration of different perspectives, highly relevant to the emerging discipline of sustainability studies.
Associations with the Transition Towns Movement and Sustainable Dunedin City have shifted her current focus away from technological 'fixes' to questions of participation. Her current research interests include governance for transitions to sustainability in tertiary education institutions.
