Resilient rural communities and climate change

Abstract:

This presentation reviews rural community perspectives about climate change and community resilience. It is based on focus group meetings and interviews with people in North Canterbury and Central Hawkes Bay, as well as interviews with key personnel from national and regional organisations associated with New Zealand?s rural economy and society. 

About the Speaker:

Ann has followed a 30-odd year career in central government (as a researcher, policy analyst and operations manager) by turning full circle and returning to research under the CSAFE umbrella. She is currently working on a C Alma Baker Trust funded project exploring changes in hill country pastoral farming since 1984.  Ann is currently Vice-President of the NZ Geographical Society and President-Elect of the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women.
